I've been learning a little more basic electronics =P assembled a couple of small solar panels (243cm^2 on an a4 x3mm bit of plexiglass x2, paired 1:1 with a 6v 9000mAh/20Hr AGM cell).

So solar panels powering nothing?

One is recharging the agm cell battery, i have 7x small led modules from there in two 30mA/H groups lighting my room

You didn't mention the lights. That makes sense now.

I've converted a bunch of LED night lights to color-changing to make my hallway into a disco. And I added an AC power supply to a once-battery-powered LED sign that I'm fond of. I modified a few cheap chinese flashlights to override that usual "bright, not bright, flashing like a bitch" chip they like to put everything. None of it particularly advanced, but I'm proud of myself.

So basically, I have the skills of a Chinese factory worker.

The hallway disco sounds pretty cool, i'm a bit shy about playing with A/C
I have a little homebrew flashlight that will run on either 1xAA or AAA via a cheap 5v voltage boost break-out off ebay
Attempted converting a little solar light to a color-changing led but it didn't quite work, it's a plain red solar light now

Solar and color-changing don't play well together. This guy explains it:

Ah, the Led was from another bit larger solar light, but it might need an inductor or something to get it to work, I assume lack of current or voltage as the one its in is pretty small

Any thoughts on measuring current over a pair of diodes?
One is relatively passive, should only be drawing a few uA

is it me, or are you only 2 people in this tread?

just the two of us

=) Looks like these digispark clones work after-all, i think even the one i thought i fried is still working through the 5v or vin pins, can see the blink script still running

Five (probably) working microcontrollers woop

i've always wanted to get into electronics as a hobby. now i've enrolled in college for CSEE so we will see how that goes. i'm still interested though i never went through with it. my problem always seemed to be that i didn't know where to start for real. i'm interested in hardware hacking.

apart from that i like to play games like tekken 7, final fantasy14, poker and mahjong although im really bad at the latter two.

i've been considering getting into drawing and playing bass/guitar.

my great passion and forte in high school is learning languages though. especially asian languages. to date i can understand 4 languages and im fluent in two of those. i will add another four onto that over the next years

I've only recently discovered the difference between the volts going into a resistor and the voltage drop across a resistor =) Pretty basic stuff, voltage dividers make for a good illustration

And then you have shunt resistors which kind of work in reverse (current-dependent voltage instead of voltage-dependent current), essentially just low enough resistance value resistors to eat up all the available current @ less than the supplied voltage

I thought this said "boobies" instead of "hobbies" for a second when I saw the thread list.

Misreading thread titles is not a hobby, it is but merely a lark.

> lark1

noun: lark; plural noun: larks

a small ground-dwelling songbird with elongated hind claws and a song that is delivered on the wing, typically crested and with brown streaky plumage.
used in names of birds of other families that are similar to the lark, e.g. meadowlark.
a person who habitually gets up early and feels energetic early in the day.

No, i think you are also mistaken

I play guitar and flute and I'm currently learning how to play piano and violin. I'm also a decent artist but I don't draw enough to really consider it a hobby.

I've recently started learning calligraphy and I've taught myself the basics of multiple formal scripts and am currently focusing on mastering English Roundhand. I'll be sure to post some of my work on here once I actually make something decent.

I quite like math, computing, and electronics but lack of time and resources has unfortunately limited my ability to do anything of interest. I do have some fairly interesting analog computing projects on my immensely long to do list and am in ownership of an almost fully functional '60s analog computer, but I doubt that I'll be posting anything related to that or any of my other technical endeavors on here. I have a (very long term) goal of someday making some kind of contribution to mathematics of computer science, but I doubt that I will achieve anything.

What a horrible dictionary. A lark is a bit of silly play.

I've decided to learn how to draw. How long should this take me? A couple months or so?

23 Name: Anonymous : 2017-10-03 18:10 ID:2d2O9xox [Del]

10,000 hours of practice. So about two years.

Faces and hands are hard, so focus on drawing dismembered torsos.

I'm a vocalist in a hard rock band, i like playing board games and paiting miniatures, and I also like bushcrafting and survival camps.
